I am an Assistant Professor in the School of Computing at the University of Georgia. Since joining UGA in Fall 2023, I have been building an interdisciplinary research program at the intersection of machine learning, optimization, trustworthy AI, and edge intelligence. My work aims to make AI systems more rigorous, efficient, and deployable in real-world environments.

Research Interests

My research spans machine learning, mathematical optimization, efficient training and adaptation of foundation models, federated and distributed learning, multimodal sensing, and trustworthy AI. I am particularly interested in methods that are both principled and practical: algorithms with strong theoretical motivation that also work under the resource, deployment, and reliability constraints of real applications.

Interdisciplinary Work

A major theme of my work is collaboration across domains. I have worked with researchers in computing, engineering, agriculture, medicine, public health, and environmental science. These collaborations have led to projects in physiological signal understanding, contactless health monitoring, precision poultry farming, AI-assisted breeding, AI for education, and scientific modeling.

Mentoring and Service

Mentoring is a central part of my work. At UGA, I have supervised master’s students in project, research, and thesis work, advised PhD students, and served on graduate committees across computing and related disciplines. I also contribute professional service to the AI community through program committee work, conference reviewing, journal reviewing, and grant review.

Selected Recognition

  • Student Career Success Influencer Award, University of Georgia, 2024

Outside the Lab

Outside of research and teaching, I enjoy soccer, reading, travel, and martial arts.
